Eugene T. Mahoney State Park:
Mahoney is located on 690 acres along the beautiful Platte River. Lodging, cabins, and eating facilities, as well as other amenities, are available along with a wide variety of activities. A 70-foot observation tower among a stand of bur oaks overlooks the park and a six-mile network of trails. This park is a wonderful site for eastern woodland species such as eastern flycatchers, blue-gray gnatcatchers, ruby-crowned kinglets and eastern wood-pewees. It has opportunities to view migrating warblers during migration, primarily in May. During the summer the park has an excellent population of eastern bluebirds and both scarlet and summer tanagers. State park entry permit required.

Louisville Lakes State Recreation Area:
Louisville Lakes SRA is located on the south bank of the Platte River, near Louisville. The park area includes 192 acres of land, with 50 surface acres of water, and the amenities of any well-equipped recreation area. State park entry permit required.

Platte River State Park:
Overlapping hardwood forests, tail-grass prairies, and the Platte River flood plain woodlands make up this 418-acre park. Two large observation towers overlook the Platte River Valley along with over 10 miles of hiking trails where you can hear and see Louisiana Waterthrush. During May, migrant warblers are numerous. Both scarlet and summer tanagers are regularly found in this park. State park entry permit required.

Randall W. Schilling Wildlife Management Area:
Schilling WMA is a waterfowl management area which includes 1,500-acres of land, bordered by the Missouri and Platte rivers, with 25 acres of water. This land is used by thousands of migrating waterfowl for resting, feeding, and limited breeding grounds. From April 1 through October 14, the area is open to the public. Public waterfowl observation tours are conducted on Sundays from November 1 through December 15.

Located at northeast end of Plattsmouth, along the Missouri River.
